The Meles Zenawi Memorial Park is built on a 60ha area in the northern outskirts of the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa. The park, in addition to adding a new recreational space to the city, will be dedicated to the life and legacy of the late Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. The concept of Vogt Landscape comprehends the park as a link between the city and landscape. Spatial sequences are created, by introducing major clearings as landscape chambers. Ornamental plantings in the context to the architecture display the scale of the garden. Studio Other Spaces, a collaboration between artist Olafur Eliasson and architect Sebastian Behmann, is in charge of planning the buildings within the park.
