In Anthologie Landschaft, sociologist Lucius Burckhardt (1925-2003) presumes a problematised concept of landscape. He questions: Why do we perceive the environment as a landscape, and under what circumstances?

The material for this debate is divided into nine chapters. The topics make one pause for thought: In Struggle with Nature, Arcadia, The City Dweller's View Over the City Wall, The Exotic as the Normal, The Sublime, The Journey to the Most Beautiful Place, The Cradle of Mankind, The Artificiality of Naturalness, and What Do the Gardeners Say?

After 40 years in the archives, the manuscript is published for the first time and illustrated from the extensive slide archive. Unpublished texts by Lucius Burkhardt summarise his ideas and insights and relate the consulted sources to one another. Through annotations, the core of the text is brought into the present and made usable for current discourses.
