A giant sandstone fountain hovers through the night
A 12-metre long water table will adorn an inner courtyard of the Zurich insurance company in the cities Enge district. The largest mobile crane in Switzerland placed the worldwide unique object designed by VOGT in the night from June 10 to 11, 2020.
The 24-tonne giant, made in 400 working hours from a single piece of Bollinger sandstone from Müller Natursteinwerk AG, finally reached its destination. The monolithic water table is probably unique in its size worldwide. The sandstone used is firmly rooted in the architectural history of Zurich. The material has been used as a building material in the city for centuries and can also be found on the facade of the companies' original headquarters on Zurich's Mythenquai.
