Award for "Gute Bauten 2025"

The project Kongresshaus and Tonhalle Zürich is being honored with the “Auszeichnung für Gute Bauten” of the City of Zurich 2025.

As part of the ARGE Elisabeth & Martin Boesch Architekten / Diener & Diener Architekten, VOGT worked between 2017 and 2021 on the restoration and conversion of the Kongresshaus and Tonhalle Zürich. The project is now being recognized with the City of Zurich’s “Award for Good Buildings.” For around 80 years, the City of Zurich has regularly honored outstanding buildings and open spaces that make an exceptional contribution to a diverse, mixed, and sustainable city.

For the Swiss National Exhibition in 1939, Haefeli Moser Steiger created with the Kongresshaus a masterpiece in the dialogue between old and new – where architecture and garden design intertwined, and vistas and planted spaces animated the ensemble.

Conversions in the 1980s substantially altered this character. The most recent restoration by Boesch Architekten, Diener & Diener, and VOGT provided the opportunity to make central qualities visible again and to develop them further. The reconstructed rooftop terrace with views of the lake, new planted windows, and green roofs renew the dialogue between building and surroundings.
