Anthologie Landschaft
Lucius Burckhardt
In Anthologie Landschaft, sociologist Lucius Burckhardt presumes a problematised concept of landscape. He asks: Why do we see the environment as landscape at all? And when? And who sees it that way?
The collected material on this debate contains poetically descriptive and analytical texts; readers will notice on their own.
Lucius Burckhardt prefaces each of the nine chapters with a short introduction. In it, he summarises his ideas and insights, relates the sources consulted and presents his view of things in a concentrated way before the original collection of texts reopens the field in a delightful and sometimes surprising way.
Editing Lucius Burckhardt's Landscape Anthology is based on the conviction of the relevance and originality of his work. The original version has been brought up to date with annotations, paraphrases, marginal glosses and contradictions by people from Lucius Burckhardt's diverse work contexts, which makes it possible to read the texts from today's perspective and to use them productively.
Anthologie Landschaft will be published by Lars Müller Publishers in spring 2023.
