Participation in the Workshop Process Domachse Hamburg

In collaboration with coido architects GmbH, Hamburg, we were one of five planning teams to formulate initial ideas and concepts for the further development of the public space between Jungfernstieg and Hafencity as part of the Domachse workshop process. The results were presented by all teams in the main church of St Katharinen.

Our spatial design concept for the development of the cathedral axis is based on its sequential succession of different open space typologies in this urban space, including squares and streets, small parks and promenades. The characters and layers of the individual sequences are shaped by this context and form the  foundation for the development of clearly identifiable open spaces that support the structure of the city centre and provide orientation within the urban fabric. A central element is the development of an extended park on the cathedral square.

This process was not intended to result in a commission; the City of Hamburg will review the ideas of the five invited teams and subsequently organise a new competition in due course.
